Ahoy,

again catching up...

Scrobble count:  201.556

Last week in covers:

Most played artists:

• Katy Perry : New album context. "143" seems okay, but also a bit cheap in terms of her artistry. Even feature guests can't really add something.

[nothing to highlight here]

Noteworthy:

• Anggun : Flashback times.
• Anna Of The North : Flashback times.
• Carrie Underwood : Fan times.
• Charli XCX & Billie Eilish : Research context for a party thingy.

catching once more...

Scrobble count:  201.951

【04】 JEREMIAS - Meer : Okay. Who would have thought, that the band would be this successful with a ballad.

nachts wach (#857)

Ahoy,

this week featuring quite a bit of new tunes...

Scrobble count:  201.836

Last week in covers:

Most played artists:

• Ski Aggu : New album context. "Wilmersdorfs Kind" has some nice tracks, but feels weaker than his previous album.

• Kylie Minogue : Research context. So I went through "Impossible Princess", but I can't understand the praise I was reading online. At times I was thinking that she tried to copy trendy sounds.

• The Dare : New album context. "What's Wrong With New York" is a strong album, although some tracks might challenge you.

• The Script : New album context. "Satellites" has very little to offer.

• Cigarettes After Sex : Fan times.

Most played tracks:

• OSWALD - nachts wach : What a nice bop.

• Zedd & John Mayer - Automatic Yes : This odd collaboration grew on me.

• girl in red - DOING IT AGAIN BABY : This one belongs on my year's best playlist.

Noteworthy:

• Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds : New album context. "Wild God" seems complex, but I can live with that.

• Will Young : I went back to his latest album "Light It Up" - and the track "Everything But You" really grew on me.

• Sofi Tukker : Fan times.

Automatic Yes (#856)

Ahoy,

September has begun and this comes with some nice news...

Scrobble count:  201.637

Last week in covers:

Most played artists:

• Zedd : New album context. "Telos" comes with many feature guests - and one of them is... John Mayer!? Can this work? Well, "Automatic Yes" kind of does. But the rest of the album seems more forgetable to me.

• Kylie Minogue : Flashback times. I've read somewhere, that her album "Impossible Princes" (1997) was ahead of its time. And since I've never heard all of it, I decided to give it a go. But I don't think it's that special.

• Enigma : Calm times.

Most played tracks:

[nothing to highlight here]

Noteworthy:

• Sofi Tukker : Fan times.
• A Little Sound (with Sugababes) : New release context. The new beat-heavy version of "Overload", which is called "Situation", did disappoint me.
• Anitta & Victoria : New release context. Her duet "GET UP BITCH! shake ya ass" seems very in your face.

• Ariana Grande : Will she ever have a more catchy pop tune than "yes, and?"?
• bbno$ : Fan times.

• Bear's Den : Fan times.

News

█ I hardly could believe, that Oasis of all bands announced a new tour. That news created quite some buzz online. I hope fans will be able to see the concerts in 2025.

█ Another comeback do we see with Linkin Park, who are now female fronted. Emily Armstrong will replace Chester Bennington - and there will be a new album called "From Zero", to be released November 15.

seems like we get another extended Summer...

Scrobble count:  201.556

Last week in covers:

Most played artists:

• Madonna : Fan times.
• Fontaines D.C. : New album context. "Romance" seems okay - but it won't turn me into a fan.

• Mura Masa : New album context. "Curve 1" has its moments, but overall it's not my cup of tea.

• Sofi Tukker : New album context and fan times. "BREAD" is a really nice collection of songs - with a few highlights like "Spiral", "Jacaré" and "Woof".

Most played tracks:

• LISA - New Woman (feat. ROSALÍA) : What a banger! Seems like the artist really wanted to push creativity here. The music video also has its appeal.
• Madonna - You'll See (Edit) : Flashback times. I remember being obsessed with this track, when it was new. The ballad has aged very well.

Noteworthy:

• Post Malone : New album context, "F-1 Trillion" does not make it easy for me to get to know it, because of all the Country vibes.
• 070 Shake : Flashback times.
