Hi,
just a little late - but on time for John Mayer's 41st birthday. :)
Last week in covers:
Noteworthy:
- ROMES : Research context. Their self-titled album did not really convince me.
- I The Mighty : Research context. I think I will give "Where The Mind Wants To Go / Where You Let It Go" another try, if my time allows it.
- Nile Rodgers & CHIC : New album alert. "It's About Time" features quite a bunch of feature guests - and finally "I Want Your Love (feat. Lady Gaga)" gets its official release
- The Church : Research contest. Their album "Man Woman Life Death Infinity" starts nice, but then it just drifts off into boring territories. :-/
- Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper : New album alert. I might not have been able to see "A Star Is Born" yet, although I really want to, but that won't stop me from getting to know the songs. And tbh most of the soundtrack is just okay to me.
Most played artists:
- FLUT : Concert context. If you have the chance, go see them live. And also check out "GLOBAL", which is a strong debut album.
- You Me At Six : New album alert. Now that "VI" is released I just had to revisit it, just to find out which tracks I like the most. And I guess it won't get better than "3AM".
- Amy Stroup : Research context. Tbh I had mixed feelings about "Helen Of Memphis".
- Roosevelt : Fan times. :)

News?
█ It took me a while, but now I've watched Carrie Underwood's new music video "Love Wins". Pretty much everything about it seems beautiful to me - the message, the colorful visuals, the vocals. :)
█ Take That will come back with "Odyssey" - a new Greatest Hits album. Stuart Price will do remixed versions of their classics. This is followed by a new UK arena tour to celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2019. It will run from April to June and a special guest will be Rick Astley. Their first pre-single "Out Of Our Heads" sounds weird and is one of four new tracks on the compilation. Also the reworked version of "Pray" does not really convince me after one listening.
█ In case you have some memories of the 90s media, you might want to check out the new music video by Charlie XCX & Troye Sivan. "1999" delivers quite a bunch of references.
█ Tenacious D are back - with their first pre-single of the upcoming album "Post-Apocalypto" (out on November 02). "Making Love" starts quite underwhelming, but the end part is quite nice.
█ Let's take a look at KPop for a change. :) So after BTS having quite some media attention in the USA, it was just a matter of time for another group to reach for the international spotlight. NCT 127 might be the next best thing. Those 10 singers and rappers come from SM Entertainment, which is one of the largest entertainment companies of South Korea. NCT stands for Neo Culture Technology and there are several ensembles like NCT U or NCT Dream. A new strategy by NCT 127 can be seen in the release of their current sinlge/video "Regular" in two versions - English and Korean. Of course, that means we get to have two music videos. Both of them look glossy and expensive, but... tbh I think the song is weak. Especially compared to that other KPop group, which seems to rule the world. :P
█ OK, I've been around a while, but I have never seen an artist dominating the German single charts that much. 8 out 10 songs among the top ten come from Bonez MC & RAF Camora. This duo also had the most successful album release of 2018. There was no doubt that "Palmen aus Plastik 2" would go straight to the top of the album charts.
New in the German charts:
[01] Bonez MC & RAF Camora - 500 PS : Uhm, well, in case you were wondering what's in Germany successful these days. Just look for Bonez MC & RAF Camora. This duo is making history right now. I've read that part of their success is the aspect, that the main target group gets relatabe lyrics.
[03] Bonez MC & RAF Camore - Nummer unterdrückt : see above
[05] Bonez MC & RAF Camora - Ja Mann! : see above
[07] Bonez MC & RAF Camora - Kompanie (feat. Hanybal) : see above
[08] Bonez MC & RAF Camora - Prominent : see above
