My year 2025 in music

Happy New Year, folks.

It is time to look at some stats again.

In 2025 I was scrobbling (only) 6300 tracks - most of them (723) in October.

Once more I have to see a decrease in scrobbles.

Artists

1. Madonna (304 scrobbles)
2. Tocotronic (238 scrobbles)
3. Joni Mitchell (234 scrobbles)
4. Lady Gaga (139 scrobbles)
5. The Weeknd (117 scrobbles)
6. Alison Goldfrapp (110 scrobbles)
7. Polar Noir (75 scrobbles)
8. BTS (74 scrobbles)
9. Roosevelt (73 scrobbles)
10. bbno$ (67 scrobbles)

Thoughts:

• Fan times have won.
• This music project totally messed up my stats, because I wouldn't usually listen to Tocotronic and Joni Mitchell this much. That makes 01099 (65) and ATEEZ (59) honorable mentions here.
• Overall I would say that I'm a pop fan.

Albums

1. The Weeknd - Hurry Up Tomorrow (86 scrobbles)
2. Polar Noir - Coming Up For Breath (74 scrobbles)
3. Lady Gaga - MAYHEM (65 scrobbles)
4. Alison Goldfrapp - Flux (Lux Deluxe Edition) (49 scrobbles)

10. ATEEZ - THE WORLD EP.FIN : WILL (32 scrobbles)

Thoughts:

• The Weeknd remains an album artist - although I was very happy with the "single versions".
• I'm surprised about previous Gaga and Madonna albums.
• And considering, that I really did not like Carti music - yuck.

Tracks

1. ATEEZ - Silver Light (21 scrobbles)
2. Alison Goldfrapp - Strange Things Happen (19 scrobbles)
   / Polar Noir - Run

/ Anggun - Snow On The Sahara
/ Anna of the North - Someone
    / Bear's Den - A Village (feat. Jade Bird)

Thoughts:

• A KPop song topps my charts.
• Those entries on top of the charts are my favorite songs of the year.

So yeah, that is my year 2025 in music.

F.

My year 2024 in music

Happy New Year, folks.

It is time to look at some stats again.

In 2024 I was scrobbling 7287 tracks - most of them (823) in January.

Compared to previous years I once again was scrobbling not so much like I used to. :(

Artists

1. Madonna (239 scrobbles)
2. Sarah Jarosz (93 scrobbles)
3. London Grammar
/ Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (82 scrobbles)

   / Stray Kids (78 scrobbles)
5. Bear's Den (73 scrobbles)
6. Agust D (71 scrobbles)
7. Pet Shop Boys (62 scrobbles)
8. Dua Lipa (59 scrobbles)
9. Haiku Hands
   / Roosevelt (58 scrobbles)
10. Kacey Musgraves (54 scrobbles)

Thoughts:

• I was listening to Madonna songs even more than in 2023.
• I needed to hear to more mellow tracks of Sarah Jarosz and Kacey Musgraves quite often,
• With their soundtrack for "Challengers" Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross really blew me away.
• Not so much K-Pop by BTS in 2024, but Stray Kids came back and I got hooked on SUGA tracks (Agust D).

Albums

1. Sarah Jarosz - Polariod Lovers (76 scrobbles)
2. Agust D - D-DAY (68 scrobbles)
3. London Grammar - The Greatest Love (65 scrobbles)

9. 070 Shake - Petrichor
/ Pöbel MC - Dr. Pöbel (42 scrobbles)
10. Haiku Hands - Pleasure Beast (40 scrobbles)

Thoughts:

• Wow, I did not expect the first three albums to be this often on my playlist.
• For its limited amount of tracks I should give some extra credit to Shygirl for her nice EP.
• And with Pöbel MC you can even find some German music here.
• PDM made one of my favorite albums of the year (Paradise).
• Including singles as albums I reached a count of over 2200 in 2024.

/ LiSA - New Woman (feat. ROSALÍA)
/ Purple Disco Machine & ÁSDÍS - Beat Of Your Heart
/ Tove Lo & SG Lewis - HEAT (14 scrobbles)

Thoughts:

• Wow, who would have thought that a simple pop song from the Eurovision Song Contest would end up as my number one track.
• Most top tracks are uptempo and can be used for party playlists.
• The only German song is "nachts wach", which came out in Autumn.
• I scrobbled about 4171 different tracks in 2024.

So yeah, that is my year 2024 in music.

My year 2023 in music

Happy New Year, folks.

It is time to look at some stats again.

In 2023 I was scrobbling 7349 tracks - most of them (834) in June.

10. BTS (49 scrobbles)

Thoughts:

• Wow, I was listening to The CHIK mostly because of an interview preparation.
• Greyshadow released his debut album, which I was scrobbling more often than the latest SG Lewis album.
• Culture Beat was part of my research for a special 90s playlist. I really fell hard for their two albums.
• Kim Petras released a great dance pop album.
• And even with hardly anything new in 2023 I am still listening to BTS, thanks to a personal best of playlist.

3. Chicane - Nevertheless (42 scrobbles)

   / Madonna - Madame X

Thoughts:

• A catchy electro song, that sounds like a ringtone, is my number one track of 2023.
• Unfortunately "dry eyes" is the only nice song, that I know of Nightly so far.
• I am hyped about the new Sarah Jarosz album.
• I recently found out about further PlanetYes singles. ^^
• I consider that Shania Twain song a guilty pleasure.
• "Böse Geister" is my most scrobbled German song of the year.
• I remember "Crush" to be the first song of 2023, that I added to my best of playlist.
• "Always On Your Side" is my goto song, when I want to come down a bit - but it's also very melancholic.

So yeah, that is my year 2023 in music.

My year 2022 in music

Happy New Year, folks.

It is time to look at some stats again.

I was scrobbling 9025 tracks in 2022 - most of them (1048) in January.

In comparison to previous years, I was listening/scrobbing less - about 1600 songs less than in 2021, which makes 2022 a 5-year-low.

• Bear's Den released two albums that year.

• I would never have imagined a wavvyboi track in my stats.
• I consider "pogo" by bbno$ and Diplo as my (party) track of the year.
• "Come Alive" would be my most scrobbled Madonna track of 2022.
• "Softcore" went viral on social media - and got stuck in my head.

So yeah, that is my year 2022 in music.

My year 2021 in music

Happy New Year, folks.

It is time to look at stats again - and so I will analyse my 10.643 scrobbled tracks of 2021. (Which are about 300 less tracks than the year before.)

7. Aly & AJ (101 plays)
8. Normandie (93 plays)
9. Lady Gaga (87 plays)
10. Garbage (83 plays)

Thoughts:

• The only new addition would be Aly & AJ, I guess.
• Both Roxette and Garbage had released anniversary editions of previous albums.
• John Mayer and Normandie came back with new albums.

• And yes, I am still a big Madonna fan. :)

8. Stray Kids - IN LIFE (59 scrobbles)
9. Sam Fender - Seventeen Going Under (52 scrobbles)
10. The War On Drugs - I Don't Live Here Anymore (43 scrobbles)

Thoughts:

• A fan of Roosevelt, John Mayer and Normandie I was happy with their new albums.
• SG Lewis entered the top ten very strong with one of my favorite albums of the year.
• Lady Gaga charted well, because I used one song for activity times. (see below)
• Masha Qrella is the only German artist in my top ten and also a new addition with her latest album.
• If I would not have waited until December to check out the latest album by The War On Drugs, this album would have charted higher.

Thoughts:

• Tbh I'm still using "Stupid Love" for home workout times. ;-)
• I'm happy about the top 3 songs being quite uplifting tracks.
• The oldest song must be John Mayer's "I Guess I Just Feel Like" from 2019.
• So I really listen to quite new songs a lot.

• New additions would include Aly & AJ, SG Lewis, Livingmore, Greyshadow, The Rubens, Fabian Friend, Running Touch, bbno$ and Freedom Fry.

So that's it - my year 2021 in music.

My year 2020 in music

Thoughts:

• BTS continue to put out strong music.
• Stray Kids seem to have had their biggest year - with a great debut album (plus a repackage version of it).

• "Morrow" is actually older - but I haven't heard it before.
• There's no BTS track among this collection.
• Sophia is some kind of new addition among my top artists/songs.

So that's it - my year 2020 in music.

• And hello to machineheart, whose 2019 album was really something to listen to in 2019 - from an album-related point of view.

• Hello Bec Sandridge, you've contributed my favorite party track of 2019.
• And hello White Lies. Their album "FIVE" made me love them.
• And Big Hit's next best thing - TXT - had a very successful debut, too.
• I'm a bit sad, that the new Céline Dion songs are not all as catchy as the pre-single "Flying On My Own".

So that's it - my year 2019 in music.
